On Dec. 14 at 9 p.m., traffic shifts on I-195 in Robbinsville will go into effect.

All traffic, two lanes in each direction, will be transferred to the recently constructed westbound bridge. The four lanes will be divided by a concrete median. There will be no shoulders on the roadway.

After crossing the bridge, drivers will cross the median to return to the eastbound side of the I-195, the Department of Transportation said in a release.

The traffic shift will allow construction to begin on overpasses that will ultimately widen the roadway to six lanes in either direction.

The project is expected to be finished in late 2014.
