At the Dec. 12 meeting, the Robbinsville Township Council voted to designate six acres near the Foxmoor Estates as open space.
The township-owned land was originally intended to be the location of the new municipal building.
The space could become a park in the future.
Councilmembers said they had been receiving complaints and petitions from residents for nearly a year. Residents said they would be able to see the municipal building from their homes, and wanted the six acres designated as open space.
A committee of residents will submit proposals to Council in the future regarding how the space should be used.
